Thanks Annelize – interesting stuff. Though recently read an article that compared energy use for a few seconds of AI servers etc to equivalent power needed while doing the same human task (using power from a computer for a relatively longer time). AI came out better on that comparison. But given that we are not realistically going to switch off devices for the time it would have taken us – we’re likely to still be using that power in addition to AI – feels like its still worth remembering the impact. Will try and find the article.
