Good Thursday afternoon Bizhubbers! Who ordered the rain!?
🕵️♀️ Call to Action: Secret Skills Show & Tell
Okay, real talk—networking doesn’t always have to be about your job title or your LinkedIn headline. Sometimes the real magic of connection comes from the weird, wonderful, unexpected things we’re good at.
This week’s challenge:
🎯 Reveal one “secret skill” you have.
It can be work-related or totally random. The only rule? It has to be true!Do you…
– Speak four languages (but only when slightly caffeinated)?
– Break dance like The Rock Steady Crew? (if you know, you know)
– Always know the exact Tupperware size for leftovers?
– Or win at pub quizzes with obscure 90s trivia?🧠 Why? Because personality builds connection. When people get to know the human behind the profile, conversations spark. Relationships form. Magic happens.
Plus, you might find someone who shares your obscure love of cross-stitch or is also oddly amazing at reading between the lines in email chains.📣 Drop your secret skill below and scroll through others. – I’ve gone first in the comments
If someone’s skill makes you smile, reply! Start a convo. You might just uncover the start of your next collaboration, or at least your next fun coffee chat.Let’s show off the talents that don’t fit neatly in a LinkedIn bio—but make you unforgettable.

I used to make wedding cakes for a living!

@Hannah I love this about you! How were your brides? were they all happy and easy to please?
-
@signal-emma generally….there were pretty mean! 🤣 Wedding pressure and all that. I loved the big reveal and the glory when they saw my creations. But in the end the late nights of icing and prepping took its toll.

This is more cringe but here goes… I was part of a choir that was on the Val Doonican Christmas Show 1986! Usually replayed on BBC4 around Christmastime!
4-
@sarahburch oh my! If that is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. Magnificent stuff!
1-
@hannah I’m easy to spot – front row, only girl wearing specs! Such a claim to fame!

@sarahburch CRINGE? Val Doonican is a legend! He was always a part of my childhood Christmas, we used to sing along to the ones we knew! We may even have “Val Doonican’s Christmas Album” in my parents LPs!!
-
@stu Let’s say that he was of his time. Actually, he was an extremely nice man who made us all feel very welcome. Even if we did have to do the infamous sit around his rocking chair as he sang “White Christmas!”

@sarahburch Wow! You’ll have to tell us when it’s coming on next so we can have a look – were these the classic NHS specs everyone had when we were young?!
-
@signal-emma Lol – luckilyl not that bad, but again, certainly of their time. It was also the era of “Sun-in” hair enhancer, so very blonde then! Happy days!

I am a complete metaphysics and consciousness nerd. I am still trying to lucid dream and on occasion do so!

@ChiMel erm…..I definitely need to know more about that! sounds incredible!. welcome to the platform btw. I am the community engagement manager if there is anything you need 😊
-
@hannah Thank you!
-
-
@ChiMel so interesting! I used to try so hard at that when I was at school (boarding school) as I had a friend who could fly out of the window and it was so cool – really necessary at boarding school .But I never managed it. Eventually I took up skydiving instead – Did my first jump in the 6th form
-
@signal-emma oooh that’s cool. I did one skydive and loved it! Just a tandem.

I trained as an engineer. I can make anything. Project that I have just completed, a sign for our tiki patio – https://youtu.be/klBBkIoy8oQ

@stu absolutely loving this! Soooo many hidden talents. Not least your incredible taste is suits!
1-
@hannah not sure plastering them all over the internet is “hidden” 😂 but thank you!🤩

@stu so cool but as I am seemingly not cool I have to ask , what is Atomic Tiki?
1-
@signal-emma Atomic Tiki Lounge is our patio – it’s an outdoor “room”, with a tiki vibe. Like all good Tiki/Mid-Century Modern hang spots it needed a sign! More to come… watch this space 🙂

@signal-emma and you are cool!

Well most of you know that I am , or was, a skydiver but my secret skill was definitely packing other peoples parachutes and I made a decent living that way for 5 years before kids !
3-
@signal-emma The pressure of packing peoples parachutes! I’d be convinced that I had messed them up!

When I was a showjumper in my early 20s, I had lunch with Luciano Pavarotti without realising he was famous!

Being neurodiverse, I can honestly say, there is about not a job I haven’t had a go at. The ones I hated most were the over-controlled ones, the ones leaving no place for creativity or genius, the ones where you were expected to be still and get on with it. So much better to do your own thing, work over midnight if the sun was out and the outdoors called.

@annelize I once had a job as an engineer and the one thing that got me through most days was my bench was in front of a window. I then had a knee op and was off for 4 weeks. When I got back they had moved me to an internal facing bench in the middle of the workshop. Within 2 weeks I was no longer working there. 🙂
