💡 Weekly Sales Tip
One of the best pieces of sales advice I can give is this:
Always leave every sales conversation with a clear, confirmed next step.
Not something vague like, “I’ll give you a call next week,” or “I’ll send you a proposal.”
Instead, agree a specific follow-up while you’re still talking.
“I’ll send the proposal this afternoon. Are you around at 3pm on Thursday to run through it?
A confirmed next step keeps momentum, creates accountability and dramatically reduces the chances of the opportunity going cold and you getting ghosted.
If you can’t get a commitment to a follow-up conversation, treat it as a red flag.
It doesn’t necessarily mean the opportunity is dead, but it does tell you something important about where the buyer is in their decision-making process. Perhaps they don’t yet see enough value, don’t have sufficient urgency, or aren’t ready to move forward.
Rather than hoping for the best, use it as a prompt to ask more questions, qualify the opportunity more thoroughly and decide where your time is best spent.
Remember: the purpose of every sales conversation is to earn the next sales conversation.
