Set some simple goals to determine how successful the event was for you.
Some I use are based around your points above Emma:
Did I learn something new and interesting.
Did I book at least 3 121 meetings with people from follow ups.

I was always encouraged to know that everyone at the human level is equal. Be human, not transactional and robotic.
Don’t just extract value from a conversation — contribute to them.
Be open to paying it forward by offering insight, support, or connections.
This has worked for me. I hope!

If you go to events where you have to do that cringy 60 second pitch then its worth having something in the tank I guess. I went to a workshop event recently run by a guy called Stefan Thomas. It was a really interesting take on how to ‘Win the room’ at networking events. Really interesting chap and he did touch on the 60 second pitch and how…

Like Rob says they are a necessary evil in my opinion, but you need to have a couple of good ones up your sleeve just in case it’s required. . I dont think they work as no one really listens or takes in, especially if they are focused on or nervous about what they are going to say themselves. If you are going to do it, make it memorable and…

📇 Networking Tip: Make It Easy to Stay in Touch
So you’ve just had a great conversation at an event or in a chat room… and now it’s time for the big moment: swapping details.
But wait—are we still fumbling for business cards? Flashing QR codes? Scribbling on napkins like it’s…

My current fave is a QR code to my digital business card that I have in Canva. It has functional links for ease of use, and is quick, easy, on brand and memorable. And they save it to their images and have my details easily accessible. I have been know to LinkedIn QR code too. But I find when I do that that this new contact can get lost in…

I have a QR code that takes you direct to my website contact page. I have stickers and am redoing my own bizz cards to have my website URL anbd QR code only on the contact section. USeful quick tool to help people remember youy, but how do you stay memorable once the card is handed over? WHat’s the in-person thing that makes you memorable,…

💡 Networking Tip of the Week: Don’t Collect Contacts—Start Conversations
It’s tempting to treat networking like a game of Pokémon cards—“gotta collect ‘em all!” But here’s the truth:
A list of names isn’t a network.
A real network is made of people who actually know who you are and want to hear from you.So instead of…

Great advice! I definitely need to stop my inbox looking like a dusty Pokémon card collection—loads of contacts, not enough actual conversations. Time to level up from collector to connector!
Also, huge fan of @hannah stepping into her BiZHUB Matchmaker era — do we get a rose ceremony, or just some excellent business banter? Either way,… Read more3 -
It’s sometimes hard to take the first step so thanks for suggesting a practical icebreaker comment! Really useful @hannah
