HELLO! Calling all those with a podcast – looking to make things more efficient for our Business Oddcast – what tools you using? Here’s how we do it…
RECORDING EQPT
Podtrack – 4Ch portable recording device
2 x Podcast Pro mics
2 x Rode Wreless GO – these record on the device and transmit to camera for mix.
Sony ZV-E10 Mk1
POST PROCESS
Import all files from Micro SD to PC
Check Podcast Pro WAVs
Check Camera MP4
Rode – disregard, these are a fail safe.
Camera – audio track mix used as guide
Audacity – import both WAVS, normalise, clip fix and make stereo
Sony Vegas – Import 2 X Processed WAVs and MP4
Align to “clapperboard”
Edit.Export MP3 for Podbean hosting
Export MP4 mix for YouTubeWe also export video clips
Transcribe using Notebook LM does a rough pass and my esteem co-producer/host @Hannah goes through and error corrects the transcript manually.

I’m just starting out – I’m about to check out https://alitu.com/ heard really good things about it – why? – basically does all the hard work for you! great if you’re not overly techy.
I have my trusty DJI Osmo Mobile 7P gimble(inbuilt tripod) and its 2x mini mics and my iPhone 16Pro – I likely need two gimbles if I want an video interview type podcast. Or I might just set up my other basic tripod with my Go Pro for the second view. Why the Osmo mobile? Its portable and has a clever tracking option and handsfree gesturing which can be very useful.
Not sure if this will be enough kit but we’ll see.
If that fails I believe you can just call through Alitu and use their inbuilt podcast set up – That will work nicely if you don’t aim to travel to the meet in person.

@JoRoweOffice fab, will have a look at the website – the biggest headscratcher for me right now is how to interview guests. If we use zoom it’s horrible to try and edit one track audio, but all the online offerings are subscription and we might not use it every month, so feels wasteful. But thanks for the resource, will go take a look.
The rest of the kit, sounds like you have enough to get some really good results. I did go a bit overboard with the spend for the Oddcast, but you gotta get the right tools for the job. I am all for bootstrapping and using your creativity at the outset, but at some point you gotta invest. As someone who started out writing for radio, (R4 – Week Ending), I know how important good audio is, people will watch a bad video with great audio, but won’t watch great video with bad audio, it’s what matters most.
