  • Google Account clean up

Ahead of a spring clean I was asked by a customer for ways to trim their Google Account size as they wished to avoid moving into a higher paid tier. So, using some google-fu and some AI clean up magic here’s a few ideas on how to reduce the Klutter in your account.

    1. Find the Real Storage Hogs in Gmail

Check what’s taking up space across Gmail,…

  • Annual review

Anyone do a personal annual review? Gains, losses and the various things you wanna do more of, less of, change etc. Not really resolutions, more directions of travel?

Or do you do a continual rolling assessment and course correct as you go, no real direction of travel, more ensuring momentum and at least not remaining stuck is the answer?

    • The end of 2025 / start of 2026 has been a big reset for me anyway – new job, new home, new direction, new motivation – Feels less about having a perfect map and more about not drifting, keeping momentum, and staying connected.

I have been continually rolling assessment / making it up as go is best for me. Strength in numbers definitely matters,…

      • Around this time each year I do look back at the year before and look at what we could do better, do more of or change in the year ahead. Just being aware gives you a psychological direction I find.

I have had quite a big shift in focus for this year after a bit of reviewing where we are at toward the end of last year. I have scaled back on…

          • How to get free transcriptions (not clickbait, not promoting)

Anyone here using Audacity? If you answered “No” then let me enlighten you, if you said “yes” then let me “blow yer hair back”!

Audacity is 100% free audio software. It’s not a full feldged Digial Audio Workspace (DAW) but it is a pretty decent way to edit audio. Currently it’s getting a much needed overhaul and they have recently…

            • Wow, Audacity, there’s a throwback… 🤯 Pretty cool they’ve invested in enhancing the tool from my early days of using it probably around 15 years ago! 😬😅 Thanks for sharing, @stu !

          • What do I actually do?

At the BiZHUB Accelerator this morning we all discussed what we do and what gives us joy and brings fun into our roles, and our businesses. A few people asked me what I did, and that’s a very hard question to answer. And one that I posed in my one man show that I performed at the Phoenix Theatre in Bordon at the weekend. At the end of the show…

            • I reckon B or D Stuart.
Sadly couldn’t make it to your show but knowing you were doing it and having known and worked with you, I Had my own quick think to come up with a title or a tag line for brand Stuart.

How about “Ambassador of Awesome People, Awesome Businesses and Awesome Suits”

              or simply “Ambassador of Awesome”

          • I’ve been on the hunt for a transcription service. Every mindful of data security and how AI seems to be everywhere, and asking for another subscription, I had several requirements.

            1. Not cost a huge amount for the service.
            2. Accuracy vs cost – don’t waana be cheap and then spend hours editing (or waiting).
            3. Data security – how will the service manage…

Due to Internet outages MONDAY ACCELERATOR IS CANCELLED – Zoom has an issue this morning (a lot of services have an issue as Amazon AWS servers are down it seems) so we have taken the decision to cancel, but you do get the chance to catch up with us in person this coming Friday (24th Oct 25), at the…

            • I like using Wise bank for my subscriptions. I don’t know about others, but lots of the software I subscribe to charges in USD. By having a Wise business account, I can have USD stored in there, so I’m not paying bank fees or poor exchange rates every time I pay (usually a small) monthly subscription invoice.

            • ooh, I like this idea! Well, firstly for all the neurodiverse members of our community, I’d be crazy not to share our ‘Business Oddcast’. A hugely valuable and very funny (even if I do say so myself) podcast that covers so many relevant topics that will help not only our ND members, but everyone else too. Please check it out and give it…

Anyone got any small or useful hints, tips, surprising things (good and bad) or other insights into Self-Employment? What surprised you? What frsutrated you? Doesn’t have to be long, can be one word e.g. “TAX!” but, what one thing would you tell…

              • A few from me as someone who has been through the process in the last year:

                – It’s not what you know but who you know so build up your networks.

                – Start as a side hustle, it may be that that’s what it remains.

                – Trust the process (easier said than done) 😀

              • I would say it’s all about discipline. Once you no longer have an employer, it’s easy to drift along and spend a surprising amount of time doing ‘important stuff’ that actually gets you nowhere. Getting a new routine will look different for everyone but for me, it’s simple things like having a dedicated work space, ‘getting dressed’ (i.e.…
